Christmas inspiration sketch

So over Christmas I was set an illustration work to design a garment inspired by Tiffany lamps (my choice out of a selection). I love the shapes and colours on Tiffany lamps so I thought I could get a lot of creative ideas from it.
This is the Tiffany love which I chose I love the blue colours blended in with the greens.
This was my design front and back. The shape of the skirt is a representation of the shape of the lamp. I used a high neck top with an open back including pleats to represent the sectioned shapes on the lamp. I finally in-cooperated the colours of the lamp using tones of blue greens and greys. I used water colours as I wanted it to look like a basic sketch until I add a background which I will upload more images of.

my christmas

I thought I'd do a blog on a little glimpse of my Christmas 2013 having a look at my outfits through the festive two weeks!

This was a ten second throw anything together moment. My favourite colour is black I'm not adventurous with colours at all as you can tell. This was an over size leather dress from topshop paired with tights and some black boots.

IT WAS A GOOD COCKTAIL OUTING!!!!

Christmas Day I wore an amazing blouse from all saints paired with shiny wax jeans! ( and of course Christmas socks ). I managed to grab the top in the sale and it's a well worth investment as it unbuttons into a smart blazer a two way wear is always a winner!!

All saints have been spoiling us all this year with their sale!!! But it was my mission to get my hands on some of their beautiful embellishments !!!! Sadly I had to settle with the top and jeans !!

TARTANNNNN!!!!!!

I literally don't want winter to end i love wearing tights !!!!!!! So I decided that I had to make some effort with colour so i rooted up my sisters recent buy from topshop the pattern that has gone insane this season TARTAN!! I paired it with a black long sleeve top and my favourite piece of clothing at the moment my mothers fur cape!!! (Which is from believe it or not marks and Spencer's!!) I keep getting comments on the cape asking if it is from Lucy's boutique (Lucy meck) so if your looking for similar head down to marks and Spencer's!!!!!!!

VICTORIAN DESIGN ILLUSTRATION.
Studying fashion history is one of my favourite topics at college, i find history really interesting and exploring, it never fails to amaze or inspire me. Today's fashion is a cycle from the past and that really fascinates me. In lesson we were set a task to accomplish our own fashion look on an illustration.

I chose to challenge myself three illustrations creating my own Victorian collection. I worked from found images on the internet which really stood out to me and was in my interest. The first garment which i knew i wanted to include in my illustrations was a 'corset' the corset was a traditional item in a ladies wardrobe in the Victorian era. I took this image into my research been able to see the close up from the corset and the structure it gave to the lady.

After taking this into consideration i started two of my sketches both with corsets. I wanted to create a Victorian look which could be worn now. So the first look i used a corset followed with smart trousers adding a peplum. i also added a shaul and broach to the look making it signify smartness and upperclass.

The third illustration i also used a corset followed with a long smart blazer jacket and again some smart trousers, this look blossomed from the petticoat look in the Victorian era, where women wore peticoats and bloomers.

The image below shows the peticoat and bloomers.

My final look i wanted to go for a long flowing gown dress, based upon the Victorian dresses, i wanted to keep the aspect of the huge puffy sleeves but loose the bustle as in 2013 it isn't very suitable.

I created the caption of this dress from a present image i spotted on pintrest, i love this image i love the scenery of the photo shoot and the connotations that spark off of the image.

FINAL

Here is my final three illustrations, I'm really happy with the illustrations and the ideas that i got from the research.

SOME OF THE FAVOURITES FROM THE GALLERY ON MY RESEARCH

I love the couture embellishment on this late Victorian dress, the dress itself is beautiful and connotates purity and innocence, its a beautiful design and structure.

This up to date Marie Claire shoot is one of my favourite i love the take on the checkered pants linking back to the bloomers.

OBSESSION.
Clothing isn’t just fashion. Everything around us is fashion. And there’s nothing I love more than cosmetics, buying a new lipstick is like buying a new top, wearing a new foundation against an old dress makes you feel new the excitement of trying out the latest and adding it to your makeup bag.

This was my makeup collection in August 2013.

I recently had a make over at MAC cosmetics in Meadowhall, and the workers there are insanely talented,  we got onto the big topic of how makeup makes you feel, how it changes the structure of your face and the glow when the camera flashes? Amazing.

I had a smokey eye look tied together with a big eyeliner flick.

Recently Rihanna has launched a makeup range in MAC cosmetics, and ive purchased quite a few items. I wasn't at all impressed with Riri's fashion range at River Island but she's made it up to me as a customer from her fabulous colours and tones in her makeup collection.

These were my purchases from Harvey Nichols Leeds, Mac Cosmetics concessions last week and so far I've been                                                                 more than impressed!

The first thing i needed was some new foundation, I am really fussy about my foundation, my skin isn't the best and i like a full coverage! For many years i used Mac Cosmetics studio fix but i felt like i needed a change I moved onto Illamasqua and i fell in love for a while until it became too thick for my skin making it dry. This is the first time I've tried the my new mac foundation and I'm in love. It gives my skin a shine and a good full coverage. It's not thick and is a reasonable £25.

RIRI

Highlighter £16.00 (think) Eyelashes £11.00)Lipstick £17.00 (think)

My found love!!!!!!! I'm in love with this highlighter originally i wasn't going to buy this but i couldn't resist! I really recommend this!!

I love the packaging to Rihanna and the lipstick has to be my favourite in the whole collection, the chrome packaging makes me just want to buy everything!! The Riri woo seems to be a take on Mac's red 'Ruby woo'. The lipstick is really matte and stays on for a hell of a long time!! Can't ever go wrong with a red lippy!

past

l'anno scorso LAST YEAR
Last year was my GCSE year and my aim was to jigsaw fashion into any of my subjects as much as I could. Taking textiles in year ten I was eager to base my art subject upon fashion.
In my final piece we were given a hand-out for our  topic ‘Journeys’.

The ‘journey’ through fashion.

I started with taking items from my own wardrobe and photographing them ready to build upon in my sketch book on primary sources. (Shoes from Zara)

My secondary resources I rooted the web for some incredible images. I took colour, style and layout into consideration and created five pages full of secondary resources.
(All images had original website link in back of sketch book)

PRIMARY RESOURCE – PHOTOGRAPHY
I styled myself from head to toe for my vintage look.
Scarf vintage-  Hermes
Long body con – Topshop
Denim skirt – Topshop
Belt- AQUA
Boots- Topshop
Throughout the whole of my art final project this was one of my favourite - I loved styling myself in a traditional vintage style.

SOME OF MY FAVOURITE SKETCHES AND FINAL PIECE
One of my favourite sketches was of the fashion icon Cara Delevingne. Starting my project I knew that she would have to be a must have in my sketch book. She is a huge icon to today’s fashion and at the age of twenty one a huge inspiration to many models and fashionistas.

My final piece grew from my primary photography vintage photos. I wanted to make the piece bright and colourful full of energy signifying a relation to fashion. I used all different kinds of techniques and materials to contrast against each other.

My love for fashion

Il mio amore verso di moda MY LOVE TOWARDS FASHION.

My fetish in fashion never stops growing.

I remember been a really young age and the traditional Sunday visit at my Nans house would consist of me rooting through her sewing box pulling out all the threads and beads ready to embellish the hell out of anything I could get my hands on.
Secondary school was where I really started to breathe fashion. Around the age of fourteen to fifteen I was bought a sewing machine. I used it to full advantage and made a variety of garments, which became online on my Facebook and it became my weekend job - Nothing more than I enjoyed making individual pieces for others to wear and that was when I discovered my urge and inner excitement for a future career in fashion.

I worked in House Of  Fraser last year in the ladies Warehouse concessions. I loved working with the clothing brand and I was fortunate to create a mood board piece (picture below) which was sent off to Aurora’s headquarters which is most definite my favourite involvement so far in fashion.

Today- I love fashion and my wage is gone within a week on keeping up to trend. The fast paste of the latest, challenges me into what to wear in the morning and knowledge’s me on what looks good together. It’s incredible how one piece of clothing from the catwalk can stand straight on a mannequin in a high street store within the space of four to six weeks. I love designer ends and I believe what you pay for is what you receive, unfortunately at the age of sixteen it isn’t all affordable. At the age of sixteen one designer coat can cost a whole high-street outfit which is always a winner.

Fashion is past presence and future.
  Embrace it.
