Collar to cuff

My latest project at college was 'collar to cuff' it involved a lot of designing, making and marketing. I am going to upload some images of work throughout the project.

DESIGNING

Here are some images of my designs, final design boards for my shirt and customer profile board. My theme was archeticture and interior decor so I used strong shapes and structures throughout the designs relating back to images and research from my theme. My illustrator was Mr Cedric Rivrain his illustrations really linked well with my theme and designs. All of the shirts are pure white cotton and I wanted to add some brightness and boldness to my boards so I used magazines to collage the skirts and trousers which I think really work well together as a contrast.

PROMOTIONAL
When buying a shirt from the collection the customer received a free promotional bag. I designed the bag from a building which I came across in my research on archeticture. I used the strong structures shapes and created high pointed batik dyed triangles. I used batik to create a crackling effect which a Givenchy bag inspired me to achieve. I was firstly making a canvas bag but I decided later on in the process to make a clutch.

THE MAKING
My final design board shows the shirt that I picked to make and the spefication drawings. The shirt itself was mainly inspired by strong structual buildings and the panels represented stairs. Overall I wanted the shirt just to be white cotton and I think I went with the right choice. The shirt is branded upper high street such as shops like All saints, Karen Millen and Reiss.

the eighteen year old that has it all

The eighteen year old that has it all goes to Kendal Jenner! The American family memember of the Kardashians is living the ultimate dream. She already is an fortunate eighteen year old but her life this week got taken to a whole different level '#livingthedream' she posted on her Instagram. This week my Instagram has been taken over by Kendal Jenner and her fabulous strut down Givenchy, Chanel and Marc Jacobs catwalk it seems to me like she's stole Cara Delevingne's light. Watching keeping up with the Kardashians and following Kendal Jenner on Instagram it shows how long she's been building up for this moment and what an worth wile wait it's been, I'm happy to see the public talking not just about Kim it seems to me like the Jenner sisters are taking over !! Out with the old in with the new!! 💖

collar to cuff

So it's the start of a new project again at college. The brief is to produce a iconic garment 'shirt' only using a combination of the palette black and white reflecting on a chosen insprational source combined with a dash of my own creativity.

Starting a new project first things first is to find a theme, a theme is the start of the growth it's where the inspration and creativity comes from. I did a lot of reasearch and I chose my theme to be architecture, interior decor and finally towards my designing I'm going to merge it in with minamlisim. The three really word together well and give me a wide range of inspration from all three.

This is my first piece of work using a Hayden Williams illustration and adjusting a dress from the inspration of the shapes of interior decor lighting.

new york prada

Hellllllooooha prada !!! Visiting New York last week I discovered what we would call in our country a little village full of blocks after blocks after blocks of shops - heaven. Shohoe is a street in New York full of shops from high street to designer leading on blocks to blocks of an ultimate shopping experience !!! We explored shohoe in two days and I fell in love with the place a lot of my buys were bought from there and two days didn't cover enough to explore it all! However in the freezing cold I had to whip my phone out to take (rather blury) pictures of the insane prada window display!! Prada needs huge appreciation!!!

I was gutted to arrive on the second visit as they'd taken down a mannequine wearing a bold pattern piece print dress over layered by a embelished gold bralet - amazing.

new york

Last week I experienced the beautiful city that never sleeps New York. I went with my college and it was an experience I'll never forget. I spent the whole five days with my three new musketeers. New York was unreal it made me valuate my future and my dream of becoming a working memember in the fashion industry and been part of New York City !!! 💖

summer spring collection 2014

Working on college project it's finally coming to an end! Meaning the time has come to blog my journey from start to finish. The task was to design a spring summer collection for 2014 inspired by a designer and collection.

My first task was to choose my three favourite illustrators appropriate to what I wanted to create and the three had to have persific individualities.

I started off with a detailed artist who's talent lies with making illustrations look and feel alive - the famous Hayden Williams. Researching a lot of his images with a fine pencil media I sketched out one of his pieces which was a personal favourite.

My second design was the king of unwise illustrations and one of my favourite through the fashion illustration history the hidden son of the Adams family Mr Achraf Amiri. I love the skeleton structure figures and the bright bold colours Achraf Amiri uses.

I played around with media creating my own of the Lady Gaga illustration Achraf Amiri created using a combination of college and water pencils.

Finally the last brief for an illustration was an illustrator through the 1900's I chose the rated number 1 illustrator in the 'famous fashion illustrators' book - Antonio Lopez. I really linked Antonio Lopez work and media I found the colours and contrasts inspiring.

The next brief was to start researching for designers who inspired me ready to create a collection. I researched and researched not finding anything that I persificly like or inspired by. Until searching on Vogue and coming across the Louis Vuitton collection for Marc Jacobs. The dramatic inspiration of a show girl theme fulled with embellishment and big feathered hats took my imagination and inspration.

The theme of show girls Marc Jacob took and created a sensational collection inspired myself to create the imagination creating the same.

I started a mood board creating all my pieces together of the colour scheme illustrator and designer.

I also created a customer profile board ready to design a collection for my customers wants and needs.

My customer was a wealthy Russian socialite wanting a collection designed ready to wear at her fathers jewellers grand openings around the world.

I started sketching some poses for my designs a weakness of size 4-8 skinny models wearing a mask signifying the show girl theme.

I created 12 pieces of haute couture evening wear using my imagination and inspration from the Louis Vuitton collection.

I experimented with different medias using water colours, water pencils, fine liner and college. I found that they all worked well with each other and included them all in my FINAL 8 designs.

All of my collection was analysised and completed. Finally I had to complete my marketing and promotion designing packaging, logo and swing tags.

I used a luggage style packaging and a simple tear drop swing tag along with the Italian writing for my logo.

The end of my spring summer 2014 collection. Completed.
